When taking the following picture of two pigeons in the snow (barely visible here, but ok) i realised i almost never use my telelens. One rare example though was perfect for the opener of this post. yes because that’s probably why you’re here. pictures of my cat. yes. they rule. definition of art you might even say.

A while ago there was a party in amsterdam where i also spent the night. Unfortunately i had to leave early for work the next day (ay, that was VERY, ehr, shite). Fortunately that gave me the chance to photograph sleeping and cranky hung over people.

i’m trying out the apple aperture trial. haven’t been able to get b/w handling to my liking. the dark grays seem to hit super black constantly when adjusting stuff in an ugly way. Maybe you can see what i mean in chris weeks his blog here http://www.uber.com/chrisweeks/blogs/anonfree.html pretty sure he always uses aperture. But maybe i’m just spoiled by darkroom prints! anyway, i have ideas for more photos to blog ofcourse but this is it for now. thanks for viewing and comments are always welcome!

School assignments and randoms

Some assignments from last semester.For this one i had to do a series about an area of choice around a river. Not a lot of restrictions or other specific things, so no specific ideas in my head when i spent the day walking around. EOS 400D with a piece of garbage that is cosina 19-35 3.5/4.5.

‘Shoot a photo of a watch’… 400D 50/1.8 Could have done it at the school studio’s with a big ass technical camera plus 20 megapixel digi back but didn’t see the added value in doing that :P

People who do stills often can create good looking results, but it’s not for me. I find the whole studio lighting process combined with often too much photoshopping not exciting at all. On our class trip to Antwerp one assignment was called fly on the wall. No further instructions. Ilford hp5+ normal. 50mm.

A while ago i saw some funny 4×5 inch pinhole stuff on the web again and couldn’t resist building one since it didn’t seem that hard. The result isn’t very good, so improvements should be made next time.

I had a roll half filled bw sitting in an old ansco memar camera wich i stopped shooting because i didn’t feel like shooting this camera wich had no light meter, an almost unuseable viewfinder and no way of focusing except for guessing. Took the roll out, shot the rest with the eos5 and dev’d. The old shots were overexposed and of general low quality wich made them super awesome :)First one is from me and my friends summer holiday to Croatia 2006:

2 from an afternoon fishing (=enjoying some beers and sunshine). Can’t wait to do that again sometime when the weather allows.

More positive film, wich i’m shooting a bit too much of lately. Not a lot of acceptable photos per roll. Randoms:

ah, the joys of shopping

that was all kodak c41 bw400, didn’t know what to expect but turned out nice, although shadows turn black very fast. eos5 50/1.8 and a sharp,old, loud&slow af 24/2.8 by the way.

got a hold of a shitload of mostly positive color film, past exp. date a bit but that’s what made it affordable

provia, velvia, e100, some nph and t film 135and120

so guess what’s next, indeed positve color film. provia400

looks completely desaturated compared to the actual thing due to color profiles or some shit, so imagine some extra ka-pow on top of these.

chronological order is nowhere to be found, because i just realised i shot some (crappy looking) superia in delft that is up next.

main thing turned out to be 4 projectors showing slideshows that people could choose by computer. wtf, that’s so not how you honor great photographers who mainly shot bw film. and also, people who just came in had no idea how it worked so they just clicked the same famous names that were showed just minutes before.

next time, please… prints!

next time i should maybe show some school stuff from last semester.

But, who is that than?

The guy behind this MacBook is Kim (Kim Liong van Dam, hence the KimL…) . Living in the Netherlands, studying photography in amsterdam. Born in ‘88.

Now what to post, what to post? first posts are both irrelevent aswell as crucial since i have zero readers but then again first impressions are important ‘they say’.

Enough with the blahblah. Now i will just browse my harddrive and smack some stuff up here.

In december something came from the sky that wasn’t really worth being called snow but i went outside to shoot anyway… ofcourse i came across a shopping cart.

Everywhere they appear, and everywhere we shoot them. if you have some, show me!

I’ve kept it short, since i’m kinda sick at the moment, slowly getting better though. And also, i haven’t entirely figured out this whole interwebz blogging thing.It’ll only get easier right?
